Hi I'm,

The seeds of Driftwood Enlightenment were sown really from the day I was born. I’ve always been an overthinker, a nurturer but also a rule breaker. I had a million questions as a child, often told I was “too much” this led me down a path of learning more about myself. I have always been one to want to serve others. Starting at age 15 with my first job as a certified nursing assistant caring for the elderly, it brought me so much joy to care for others and feel like I made a difference. My career continued on the healthcare field where I currently work as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

I became a mom at the age of 20 and a single mom. I am now married and have two more children who bring me so much joy. But having the experience of a conflict divorce, being a single mom, journeying life’s difficulties and learning how to navigate a shared conflict parenting also brought many challenges creating more room for myself to dig deep, reflect and learn how to process difficult situations while trying to remain a bright star and good human when there is evil in the world.

And then….

So, the true question…. How did Driftwood Enlightenment develop, how did I get here…. How in the world did I get a website sharing all of this—-

The Unfinished Story

The Overthinker, the Nurturer, and the Rule Breaker

The story begins with the traits that shaped my identity: a curious mind, an empathetic heart, and a rebellious spirit. Childhood was a time of endless questions, self-discovery, and learning to embrace being “too much” in a world that often told me to be less.

A Heart for Service

From my first job as a certified nursing assistant at 15, I found joy in helping others. Those early experiences in caring for the elderly planted the seeds of a lifelong calling to serve, eventually leading me into the field of mental health care as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Motherhood and Resilience

At 20, I became a single mother. The challenges of navigating a conflicted divorce, shared parenting, and building a life for my family taught me resilience, self-reflection, and the power of perseverance. Today, I’m blessed with a beautiful family, and the lessons of those early years continue to guide me.

The Driftwood on the Shore

The inspiration for Driftwood Enlightenment took root during a family vacation to Nicaragua. On a serene beach, surrounded by the ocean’s embrace, I discovered driftwood—each piece unique and shaped by its journey. That moment became a metaphor for life’s transformative power, and the driftwood became a symbol of hope and purpose.

A Father’s Grace

My stepfather’s battle with terminal brain cancer was both a profound challenge and a source of inspiration. His unwavering faith and grace in the face of illness left an indelible mark. His final days, spent surrounded by loved ones, taught me the beauty and rawness of life’s transitions.

The Gift of Grief

Death, though painful, can be a gift when met with openness and vulnerability. My stepfather gave us the precious opportunity to grieve with him while he was still with us. Together, we cried, laughed, and shared dreams, creating memories that would anchor us after his passing.

The Whispers of the Soul

After my stepfather’s passing, I could no longer ignore the inner voice calling me to something greater. Taking a leap of faith, I left behind the safety of my corporate job to pursue my passions. It was a terrifying yet transformative decision.

Building Driftwood Enlightenment

In the years that followed, Driftwood Enlightenment began to take shape. Fueled by sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and victories big and small, I found joy in work that aligned with my soul. Alongside this journey, I established Enlightenment Psychiatry, a practice dedicated to transforming mental health care.

Lessons from the Dying

My time as a hospice nurse offered me invaluable wisdom. Listening to those nearing the end of their lives taught me what truly matters and inspired me to live with purpose. These lessons became the foundation for Driftwood Enlightenment.

Mission of Joy and Purpose

Today, my mission is clear: to help others uncover their passions, find joy, and embrace resilience. Driftwood Enlightenment stands as a testament to the beauty of transformation and the power of growth, even in life’s most challenging moments.

The Unfinished Story

This story is far from over. With gratitude and hope, I look forward to the chapters yet to be written—helping others discover their own paths, live their dreams, and find their own enlightenment.

“My goal is for every person to leave feeling enlightened and confident that this is a safe place to dig deep, be open about all experiences of their lives regardless of judgment or societal norms."
